Made to measure
Included. On everything. Since 2019.
Not an upgrade, not a tier. Every Silai garment can be drafted to your measurements at no additional cost.
Why it is free
Houses charge for made to measure because they hold stock. The garment already exists in standard sizes, so custom work is an exception that disrupts the line.
Nothing here exists before you order it. The pattern has to be laid out and cut either way — adjusting it through the bust, waist, hip, shoulder and length adds bench time, not a different business model.
So we do not charge for it. What it costs is about 7 days.
Eight measurements
Take them over your underwear, with the tape snug but not pulling. If you are unsure of any of them, send what you have and book a video fitting — we would rather check than guess.
- Bust
- Fullest point, tape level, breathing out
- Underbust
- Directly beneath, snug
- Waist
- Narrowest point — bend sideways to find it
- Hip
- Fullest point, roughly 20cm below the waist
- Shoulder
- Bone to bone, across the back
- Arm
- Shoulder point to wrist, arm slightly bent
- Height
- Without shoes
- Heel
- The height you intend to wear
Or book a fitting
A short video call, about fifteen minutes, and we take them with you. You need a tape and someone to help with the back measurements. It is free, and it is the better option if you are guessing at more than one of the eight — a measurement that is wrong by an inch costs more time to alter than the call would have taken.
Length is a separate choice from size
It changes where the waist shaping falls, not only the hem — which is why a tall grade fits differently from a regular one that has simply been let down. Petite shortens shoulder-to-hem and raises the waist shaping; tall lengthens it and drops the waist.
Nothing is cut until they are confirmed
An order does not enter production until your measurements are confirmed. If something looks inconsistent — a hip measurement smaller than a waist, a length that would sit oddly — we ask before we cut rather than after.
They are kept, and they are yours
Once you have given them, later orders use the same set. You can change them whenever you like from your account, and a change applies to orders placed after it, not to a garment already being made. Ask us and we will delete them.
